Carpet, Cushions and Coffee Stains – Professional Cleaning Services

Accidents happen all the time, but they happen more often when you have a hot cup of coffee in your hand. Coffee spills and splashes leave stains that don’t always come off easily unless treated immediately. Depending upon where you spill your coffee you might need to treat the coffee stain differently. During our professional experience, we have seen coffee stains on:
- Fabric (shirts and sheets)
- Wooden tables and floor
- Upholstery (Couches, sofas and sofa cushions)
- Carpet.
Fresh coffee stains are easier to remove. Acting immediately and blotting as much liquid as possible and rinsing it with water afterwards is the best way to go for any situation be it your white t-shirt or carpet. If you have allowed the stain to sit for a while and it has dried up, it will be a little more difficult to get it out. It’s best you seek professional help and hire professionals to do the job so you do not ruin your expensive shirt, upholstery or carpet in the process. If you will try on your own, we are sharing tips based on the advice on professional cleaning service, The Laundry Durango, CO.
Chemicals and Materials
Although the method of taking out the coffee stain from different places varies, you will need the same chemicals and materials for getting out the stain. The list of materials required is as follows:
- A cup of water
- Clean cloth/blotting paper/paper towels
- An old toothbrush
- Liquid laundry detergent
- Powder laundry detergent
- Laundry Stain Remover
- White vinegar
- Hair Drier or a small fan
Removing coffee stains from fabric
If the stain has already dried pour three to four drops of liquid laundry detergent and let it sit on the stain for a few minutes, rub the detergent over the stain with your fingers and then rinse off. If the stain has not faded out completely repeat the process a couple of more times until the stain is gone. Alternatively, you can make a past by taking powder detergent and adding a little amount of white vinegar, put the paste on the stain and brush it gently with an old toothbrush.
Taking the coffee stain out from the wooden table
Of course, you could have just wiped out the coffee when it was spilt, but if you just discovered the stain and it has already dried, don’t worry there is still away. It’s as easy as pouring a little white vinegar over the stain, wipe away the stain with a clean cloth once the coffee is dissolved in white vinegar and let it air dry. You will be surprised that with this little effort your wooden table/floor will be as clean as if it was new.
Carpet Cleaning and Coffee Stains
You can damage your carpet if you try to rub off the coffee stain or use a bleaching agent for spot treatment. Even applying white vinegar without diluting it in the right quantity can discolour the treated area.
Carpets are expensive therefore it is smart to hire a professional service. Take one tablespoon of the liquid dishwasher, one tablespoon of white vinegar and add them in two cups of water. Spray generously on the stain and blot alternatively with a wet and dry towel. Do not rub off the stain or you will damage the frays of carpet. Repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.
Cleaning Coffee stains out of upholstery
Add one tablespoon of liquid dish soap, a quarter cup of white vinegar in two cups of warm water. Dampen a cloth in this solution and dab it over the stain and blot with a dry cloth. Work your way from outside to inside and repeat until the stain is gone completely
